Man Foils Mother’s Attempt To Drown 5-Month Old Baby But ..

An attempt by a 30 year old mother to drown her five month old baby has been foiled by a man who was at the river by the time.

The woman, Olubunmi Ajayi is now with the Ogun State Police Command, narrating what must have moved her to the attempt at Imole Anifowose, in RSS river, Sagamu.

It took an alert Olusola Sonaya, who was fortunate to be around the river, to rally for the rescue of the baby, who was immediately rushed to the hospital.

Spokesperson of the state Police Command, SP Omolola Odutola, said the baby was in stable condition at the Olabisi Onabanjo University Teaching Hospital (OOUTH), Sagamu.

 “Following an attempted murder case which occurred on the 21st of January 2024 at about 1730hrs that one Oluwabunmi Ajayi, 30 years, was sighted by a humanitarian who saw the suspect dropping her little child into the river.

“The person who saw her dropping the child into the river raced to the river and rescued the baby from drowning.

“The baby was rushed to OOUTH for medical attention and examination. The baby was reported to have survived the trauma.”

Observers have been left wondering what must have pushed the woman to attempt to drown her own five month old baby in the river.

Perhaps, the reason would emerge at the conclusion of investigations.
