Luis Enrique Hails Mbappe After Dortmund Masterclass 

The manager of Paris Saint-Germain, Luis Enrique, praised Kylian Mbappe to be the “best player in the world” after his performance against Borussia Dortmund.

In PSG’s 2-0 victory over Dortmund in their Champions League group stage opening at Parc des Princes, Mbappe extended his impressive start to the campaign. The France international gave his team a 1-0 lead in the 49th minute by converting a penalty kick, and Achraf Hakimi extended the advantage shortly after to seal a 2-0 victory. In addition to praising Mbappe specifically, Luis Enrique discussed what most shocked him about the 24-year-old forward.

“For me, Kylian is the best player in the world,” Luis Enrique told reporters after the game. “But above his technical qualities, what has struck me is his human quality. It is a pleasure to see him in the dressing room. He is a leader, and he always has a smile.”

Mbappe was kept off the PSG roster the whole summer because he resisted signing a contract extension with the team. However, since being reinserted into the starting lineup, has been in spectacular form, scoring eight goals in only five games across all competitions.

According to Sky Sports, the former Monaco player is in negotiations with PSG about a one-year contract extension. His current contract is slated to end in 2024; this would allow the club to sell him for a profit next summer. Real Madrid is reportedly still interested in signing Mbappe as they try to couple the forward with Jude Bellingham, their newest star.
