Lisandro Martinez and Victor Lindelof, the centre backs for Manchester United, are in a race against time to return to action this year.

In the second half of United’s Premier League match against Brentford last week, Lindelof had to be substituted out because of a hamstring injury. Martinez took the place of the Sweden international after the match, noticing a calf problem.

The Red Devils have now formally acknowledged that the defender’s muscular issues have kept him out of play for at least a month. Due to many injuries, the Argentine defender has missed a large portion of the 2023–24 season. Just nine Premier League games and eleven overall have included the World Cup winner.

Following a frustrating match against Brentford in which the Bees scored a late equaliser, Erik ten Hag’s team will return to Premier League action on Thursday when they host Chelsea at Stamford Bridge. Martinez and Lindelof might not be able to play again this season if their respective recoveries are not successful.
