Ligue 1 mocked Arsenal with ‘Farmers league’ jibe after the Gunners went down against Lens in the Champions League.

The French team won with a stunning victory after Gabriel Jesus had put the Gunners up with goals from Adrien Thomasson and Elye Wahi.

Ligue 1 did not miss the chance to mock Arsenal after the match as they posted a photo of Thomasson celebrating his goal with a caption, “Farmers League Strikes Again”.

In European football, the Premier League, La Liga, Serie A, Bundesliga, and Ligue 1 are considered the “Top five leagues.” Ligue 1 is regarded as the least elite of the top five European leagues, with supporters of other leagues frequently deriding the French league as a “Farmers league.” Those supporters imply, in a disparaging way, that the league is made up of individuals who work in actual farming during the day and play football in the evening.
