Lagosians Groan As Abule-Egba Road Works Linger

The non-completion of the construction work on the Abule-Egba ikeja road is causing much suffering for road users, and this began right from the commencement of the road works.

Traffic jam has become a regular occurrence in the highly populated area, the road users suffering and groaning.

Commercial bus drivers and motorist find it very difficult to ply the road, and those who do, hike their fares, or shorten the journey.

Also,  several accidents occur on the road daily while vehicles also break down on a regular basis. In fact, their device cutting off the Agege link road has been a great pain on the neck of the residents.

The situation worsens by the day as hoodlums now take advantage of the situation to rob motorists and other road users.

A commercial bus driver who gave his name as Tiawo Ojo said the lagos state government no longer cared about the completion of the construction work on road, because of the failure of the governor, Mr. Akinwumi Ambode to secure a second term in office.

Another car owner who gave his name as Olaniyi Babatunde said the Lagos state government had not paid the contractors, and as a result, workers could not continue work.

He pleaded on the government to pay the workers so that they could quicken the work.

Another person who gave his name as Obi Nwosu said the situation of the road is getting worse by the as the road is now so unkempt, with litters and dirt everywhere.

Another person who gave her name as Omowumi Peace also appealed for prompt payment of contractors so they could complete the work.

She said the current state of the road was responsible for the incidences of hoodlums harassing road users.
