Lagos, Ogun Neighbourhoods On Red Alert Over Planned Robbery Attacks

Some neigbourhoods in Lagos and Ogun states are on red alert following rampant hoodlum attacks recently and rumours that the robbers plan to target more places.

As a result, a number of local vigilante groups have already begun surveillance activities in their areas in the absence of the regular security, while also warning households to take additional security precautions.

A reliable source told our correspondent of a notice yesterday that the boys would be visiting Alasia Ajah which made the residents to mobilise, adding up to the time of the report, they had not showed up,

“But my two brothers that went out for work out said they noticed strange guys in a vehicle surveying the environment. I also heard that there was a clash at Ilaje, a major bus stop in the area”.

Bemoaning the presence of cult groups at the Oke Era Nla neigbourhood, the source said they were usually terrorising the neigbourhood given that it is a new site.

“They are really using the area as their hideout given that it is a new site”, the source said.

Earlier in the day, a number of persons had called to either announce an incident or seek clarifications about ongoing rumours of hoodlums forewarning areas they were coming.

Another source told The Eagle that in their Alagbado neigbourhood, it had been nightmarish with threats and threats though it was not so before now.

According to the source, the night the elements eventually came when they realised that the residents who had mobilised earlier in the night had tired out and retired to their homes.

“There were chants of ‘if them born you well, come out, shebi una just come out, come out make we finish you.”

The source told our correspondent that these fellows banged on gates but left shortly after.

“They left almost like a miracle harming no one on our street. But we heard they succeeded in other areas and one of the robbers was caught. These robbers are young boys. They only succeed because they come in large numbers over 50 thereby overpowering their victims”..

It is the same story in many other areas, including parts of Agege, Ishaga and Ogba just as our story earlier had indicated.

Said another report: “ The situation here in Okeira (Ogba) is so pathetic…. I didn’t sleep at all last night….so much noise around, I couldn’t figure out if it was robbery or youths around.

Plus there are too many rumours, but today, all the youths were armed with cutlasses and other sharp objects waiting for any invasion”

Apparently, these activities had been triggered by the lock-down which had drained virtually all avenues of self-sustenance.
