Kylian Mbappe Named Ligue 1 Player Of The Season For Fifth Time In A Row

Following yet another brilliant season for Paris Saint-Germain, Kylian Mbappe won the Ligue 1 Player of the Season title for the fifth time in a row.

The UNFP (French Players’ Union) planned the award event to recognise Mbappe’s exceptional accomplishments. Mbappe was the star of the show in front of goal, leading Paris Saint-Germain to yet another league triumph. The 25-year-old displayed his incredible goal-scoring ability throughout the season, tallying 44 goals for the Parisian club in all competitions, 27 of which came in the top flight of France in 29 appearances.

After playing for PSG for seven years at the Parc des Princes, Mbappe is about to say goodbye. In his rather tearful winning speech, the forward stated that he would “miss it (Ligue 1) for sure” as he prepared for a new chapter in his career.

“It is a page that is turning, a chapter of my life that is going to close,” Mbappe said.

“Ligue 1 will always have an important place in my life. It is the only league I have known in my career up to now. I have always tried to be an honourable representative of this league. I will miss it for sure.”

The 25-year-old also penned an emotional note for PSG fans on his Instagram handle, where he wrote: “Enormous emotions for this 5th title of the best player in Ligue1. A big thank you for the love you have given me all these years. I will never forget those special moments I was able to spend with you. Thanks to my teammates and the staff of this special and prestigious club PSG for constantly allowing me to be the best possible version of myself. I leave with my head held high but never forgetting I am forever grateful. THANK YOU ❤️ @ligue1ubereats @psg.”

Mbappe and PSG still have two Ligue 1 matches left to play, against Nice and Metz, as the season comes to an end. After that, they’ll concentrate on playing Lyon in the French Cup final on May 25. Even though the attacker was unable to lead PSG to the much sought-after Champions League trophy once more, he still has the opportunity to cap off his time in France with a domestic double.
