Kylian Mbappe Critical Himself After PSG Dominate Newcastle In UCL

Following Paris Saint-Germain’s “complete dominance” over Newcastle United in the Champions League, Kylian Mbappe conceded that he “could’ve done more.”

The 24-year-old French international was on hand to score a critical equaliser from the penalty spot in injury time after Tino Livramento was found to have touched the ball in his own box. He played the entire ninety minutes at the Parc des Princes on Tuesday.

Paris Saint Germain secured the 1-1 draw and maintained their position in second place across Group F, with the Magpies following closely in third, just two points behind the Ligue 1 giants. The controversial penalty decision was hugely detrimental for Eddie Howe’s team, who would have moved above PSG if they had secured the 1-0 win away from home on Tuesday.

Speaking following the 1-1 tie in Paris, Mbappe acknowledged he should have done more that night to help his team win all three points: “I try to be at my best every night. I think I could have done more for my team. I had a lot of chances and I didn’t score more goals,” he told RMC Sport. “I had chances to score, I have to score, that’s clear. Anyone with eyes saw that we dominated. It is we who must be more efficient in the last gesture. We totally dominated. We have to finish our chances, we had too many in a Champions League match. We must not give up, because there is one match left and the objective is to be first in the group so we must win in Dortmund. The message is clear!”

After the match against Newcastle, Mbappe and his PSG teammates have a short respite before their next test, which is against Le Havre on Sunday.

The fact that Luis Enrique’s club is now leading Ligue 1 and that OGC Nice is only one point behind them shows how crucial it could be for them to win this weekend.
