Karim Benzema Nets Hat-Trick For Al-Ittihad After Nuno Departure

Karim Benzema’s hat-trick helped Al-Ittihad win 4-2, just days after Nuno Espirito Santo’s dismissal.

Following Nuno’s dismissal in the middle of the week, the defending champions—who had lost their previous five games and were attempting to turn things around in the Saudi Pro League—scored a significant victory. The Frenchman broke the stalemate eight minutes after the half-hour mark with a perfectly executed penalty kick to open the score. Benzema levelled the score at the half and then set up Igor Coronado with a wonderful backheel. In return, the Brazilian gave the Frenchman two assists to complete his hat trick. Even when the opposition scored a second goal in reply, it was too little, too late.

The former manager of Tottenham won the Saudi Pro League championship in his first year of arrival, which was July 2022. Furthermore, he managed Al Ittihad for 53 games with only seven losses before they made the decision to make a change and install Hassan Khalifa as interim manager. Benzema seems happy about his leaving.

The Saudi Pro League will now likewise take a pause for the international break. When it returns to action on November 24, Benzema’s team will take on Steven Gerrard’s Al-Ettifaq.
