Joel Glazer To Stay Involved In Man Utd Decisions Despite Ratcliffe, INEOS Takeover

Joel Glazer, co-chairman of Manchester United, will continue to have a say in football-related issues after Sir Jim Ratcliffe buys a stake.

Ratcliffe and his INEOS organisation are planning to acquire a 25% share in United and take over the company’s sporting operations. However, Joel Glazer will continue to be involved since, according to The Times, he will be named to a three-person committee together with Ratcliffe and Sir Dave Brailsford, director of sport at INEOS.

Although the Ratcliffe agreement was meant to be finalised on Thursday, it may take a few weeks before it is submitted to the Premier League for approval. Ratcliffe would spend £1.3 billion to acquire a minority stake in United. The deal’s completion and announcement might then take an additional eight weeks.

According to reports, the procedure, which has been ongoing for about a year, is proceeding smoothly. Plans to set aside money for Old Trafford‘s reconstruction will be part of it. The British billionaire is reportedly eager to expand the stadium’s capacity from 77,000 to around 90,000.

Prior to being submitted to the Premier League for approval, the purchase will soon be authorised.
