Job Opportunities: INEC Releases Key Information For Applicants

IF you seek job opportunities with the Independent National Independent Electoral Commission (INEC), then, this information should interest you.

The commission has announced the commencement of training for its adhoc staff covering January 17 to 23, 2023.

Though this notice is for Plateau State, it is expected that same opening may be extended to other states of the federation, in view of the upcoming general elections.

The screening for adhoc staff, was announced by the Head of Department, Voter Education and Publicity to the Resident Electoral Commissioner, Mr Egwurube Atokpa, in a statement in Jos today.

According to Otokpa, all applicants that have applied online are to report to the various electoral offices for screening in the Local Government Areas (LGAs) where they intend to serve in the 2023 general elections.

Applicants expected include members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) serving and ex-corpers, students of tertiary institutions and staff of Ministries, Departments and Associations (MDAs), who applied to serve as presiding officers and assistant presiding officers.

He said the applicants are to come along with Call up Letters and NYSC identity cards, tertiary school identity cards and/ or letters of admission.

For staff of MDAs, he said appointment letter from current employer and /or past promotion letters would be required while discharge certificates would be needed from ex corp members.

According to him, although the screening had already commenced from Tuesday Jan. 17, it will run till Jan. 23.

The Eagle reports that before now, the INEC had been promising to deliver what it describes as best ever general elections in Nigeria in 2023, fueling expectations for the creation of job opportunities for Nigerian youths.

This, it is believed, is the best way for the commission to ensure effective manning of all its duty posts without which a free and fair election may not be feasible.
