JIFORM Meets Togo Govt, Gets Support For W/Africa Summit

The government of the Republic of Togo has agreed to support the west African media workshop for journalists in the region slated for June 21-24, in Lome, the Togolese capital.

The workshop is facilitated by the Journalists international Forum for migration (JIFORM).

The Honorable minister of communication and media and the spokesman of the government of Togo, Professor Akoda Ayewouadan, broke the news recently, during a meeting with Dr Azuma Ijoma, the President of organisation pour l’ integration Africaine (OIA) in Lome who represented  JIFROM  president, Agibola Abayomi.

The workshop is being organised by the JIFORM, a global media foundation with over 300 Journalists across the continent with Headquarters in Lagos , Nigeria, in partnership with the OIA, Togo.

The minister expressed the excitement of the Togolese government over the workshop as it would further enhance media capacity and contribute to the development of the country.

He said having received the details of the proposal for the event, he would brief the Presidency , assuring of the governments support towards ensuring that the programme was successful.

Thanking the government for its gesture, Dr Azuma said the machinery had been put in place to ensure the programme was well coordinated in both French and English Languages.

The JIFORM President had earlier visited Togo to seek information from the government and other stakeholders on the need to support the summit.

This was followed up with a letter from the Honorable minister to the JIFORM stating thus :

“I acknowledge the receipt of your letter on the 8th of April 2021 regarding the collaboration and partnership request with the government of Togo as part of the international meeting of Journalists on the Migration, the Migrants and the reporting that your organization envisage to hold in Lome in partnership with Journalist’s international forum on migration (JIFORM) from 21-24 June 2021.

“I  want to thank you for your interest in holding the meeting in our Country. In my capacity as the minister in charge of Communication and Media, I can assure you of the collaboration of national press actors during your event” said the minister.
