JAMB Clarifies Controversy Over Sales of 2021 UTME Forms

JAMB – Joint Admissions and Matriculation has provided a clarification concerning sales of forms for the 2021 UTME, the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination.

JAMB made the clarification following series of enquiries and interests from hundreds of thousands of candidates desirous of admission into universities and polytechnics for the next academic session.

The board’s Head, Media and Information, Dr Fabian Benjamin, said no date had been fixed for the commencement of sales of the said application documents for its 2021 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination, UTME.

He said: “The board’s attention has been drawn to some fictitious advertisement for the sales of the 2021 UTME/Direct Entry (DE) application documents purportedly coming from the board.

 “This is totally false, and an attempt to mislead the public as the board has not rolled out its 2021 application documents.

“We have clearly defined channels of communication and as soon as we commence the process, the public will be duly informed via the necessary media platforms.

“The board, therefore, want to urge members of the general public not to be hoodwinked into falling prey to the antics of these persons, who derive pleasure in causing confusion.

“We all know the global disruptions caused by the Coronavirus, to education and other sectors of the economy, hence the delay in the commencement of the process as was obtained in previous years,” he said.

The JAMB spokesman who was responding to a NAN correspondent question, described as totally false, misleading and malicious, any information indicating that the board had commenced sales of the forms.

He therefore urged members of the public to be wary as not to be duped.

The Eagle however reports that JAMB had, at its 2020 policy virtual meeting on admission on Tuesday 16 June, 2020, among others reviewed its UTME brochure.

By the review by that meeting chaired by the Honorable Minister of Education Malam Adamu Adamu who was however represented by the Honourable Minister of State for Education Chukwuemeka Nwajiuba, automated the brochure.

This implies it is now accessible online through IBASS (Integrated Brochure and Syllabus System), “Each Institution is to use its secured access credentials to login in. It can be requested through the Institutions registered e-mail address on CAPS”, the board said.

JAMB added that it is expected of each Institution to views its present requirement and make online request for amendment, deletion or addition on IBASS platform, and that all approved requests would be communicated vide platform provided by the respective Regulatory Agencies.
