Some people may call it transferred aggression, others may term it miscarriage of justice, but in all, they are usually difficult to comprehend.

It has to do with a man identified as Francis Banda, a Ntcheu man, which is within the Central Region of Malawi, who after labouring to build houses in these hard times for his wife, has himself demolished those houses.

Malawi24 informs that the man, ostensibly in demonstration of his deep affection for his wife, built her a house in his home  place and another one for her mother in her place.

That must have cost a fortune in terms of financial resources, energy and logistics, but justifiable for a marriage that had lasted for 13 years and produced three children.

However, he stunned villagers recently, when the wife left him and married another man, and he demolished the houses. – It Will Shock You -2

According to Banda, his wife started a relationship with another man and she recently left their house.

At some point, when Banda tried to communicate with the women, he could not; instead, it was her boyfriend that answered the phone.

This angered Banda and he decided to demolish the houses.

According to The Eagle findings, dowry payment could be a little complex in Malawi, as confirmed by Malawiplus.

It says that in many tribes, the process involves the groom’s family, led by his uncle, meeting the bride’s parents and family to propose marriage. Urban couples begin with a proposal and agreement between the two, which is also common in the West, but the wedding cannot take place unless the families meet and agree.

A dowry known in the local parlance as Lobola is usually paid in the form of cattle, or other livestock such as goats, chickens or various forms of gifts such as grain, land or cash.

“The minimum number of cattle that is acceptable is likely to be three, but the number of livestock and the amount charged will depend on the education level and family background of the person getting married. This payment must be made before the wedding takes place”

in the light of these, the big question is: could the husband be justified in the action that he took?
