I’m Not Thinking About Man-U Or Real Madrid Now –Cody Gakpo

“I have to be honest, I am not thinking about that now. I am focused on the tournament and want to keep performing well”.

Those words are coming from no other than Netherlands and PSV forward, Cody Gakpo, while reacting to rumours linking him to possible moves to either Manchester United or Real Madrid.

What is uppermost in his mind, he said was to “to keep helping the team (Netherlands). Hopefully when we become world champions we can think about other things. I try to keep focused and the other players don’t really speak about that kind of thing.”

His response that he is not thinking about either Man-U or Real Madrid, is slightly different from the player’s stance last month when quoted saying he would be honoured to play for Manchester United, Man City or Liverpool.

Describing it as ‘the next step’ at end of the season, the 23 year old had also been linked with moves to Leeds and Southampton in the last transfer window

Cody Gakpo has been with PSV since 2007, and there are expectations that the dream for new conquests may see him leave the club.

He already has laurels with PSV, first gaining ground as its first-team back in 2018, and winning the Eredivisie title, the Dutch Cup and the Dutch Super Cup twice.

His role as captain has been no less demanding but there could be in the player’s mind than club position.

Cody Gakpo has to his kitty, 13 goals and 17 assists in 23 games, but like they say, laurels could never be enough.
