I Was Marked For Elimination By The US Airstrikes, But Saved By..

Kaduna-based Islamic cleric, Sheikh Ahmad Gumi, has said he was marked for elimination by the US airstrikes but that he was saved by a top government official who alerted him.

Gumi made the allegation while addressing his followers, a video posted on X by user #General_Somto of which has now gone virile online.

The Eagle reports US President Donald Trump, threatening that the US would intervene in Nigeria if the targeting and killing of Christians did not stop.

Though the threat was taken with a pinch of Salt in many quarters, Trump followed it through on December 25, when US forces conducted air strikes targeting members of the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) in Sokoto State.

Sheik Gumi has said that he was supposed to have been eliminated alongside others but for the alert.

It was the caller, he narrated that revealed to him, the plot to eliminate him.

He said the source, was feeding him from the outcome of a national security meeting, where he saw his name listed amongst targets.

“I received a call from a top official in Abuja informing me that I am among those marked by the US for elimination through an American airstrike, as part of Boko Haram.

“Northern leaders and clerics must speak up against these lies,” Gumi said in the video.

Slamming foreign countries for meddling in Nigeria, he added:

“They claim to have come here to fight terrorists, but they are the actual terrorists”.

The Eagle reports that the US airstrikes have been the subject of intense debates in the country ever since.
