“I Feel So Happy Emerging MR NIJ”

The eventual winner of this year’s Mr. Nigerian Institute of Journalism (Mr. NIJ), Emmanuel Iyamu, has expressed happiness in being voted the ultimate male ambassador for the leading Mass Communication institution in the country.

Iyamu dusted six other contestants in a hotly contested outing, which held at the institution’s auditorium in Ogba Lagos on May 11.

In our interview with The Eagle reporter, he expressed gratitude to his course mates in ND1 A particularly, and all the ND1 students generally, friends and well-wishers for their encouragement and support.

He added: “I feel so happy being the 2018 Mr. NIJ, although I wasn’t expecting to be the winner.  I felt there were other people in the competition who were stronger than me, and I normally had this perception that Mr. NIJ is meant for Higher National Diploma (HND) students.

‘’I put in my best and the dream came true”

He sued for the support of his fellow students in making his reign a success, telling our correspondent that he would not allow the pride of his new post to get into his head.

He also told The Eagle correspondent that his new post would not be a hindrance to his study in the campus, adding that he had drawn a line, so that he would balance his options.

Iyamu promised to maintain a good ground and keep focus to the right direction.

In the female category Miss Prudence Alfred from ND1 A took the lead, after defeating six other equally endowed ladies.

The pageant, a major highlight of the yearly students’ week, was watched by dozens of the students and others from outside.

In addition to tests on their Intelligent Quotients (IQ), the contests were also tested on dance steps, etiquette and dressing style.
