Huge Boost For Barca As Vitor Roque Set To Sign on Loan In January 

La Liga has granted Barcelona permission to sign Vitor Roque on a loan during the January transfer window.

According to Mundo Deportivo, the Catalan giants will now sign the young Brazilian in January, even though they had previously agreed to sign Roque in the summer of 2024. Roque will sign on loan for the rest of the season and then move permanently in the summer. The transfer has been authorised by La Liga after Barca lost teenage midfielder Gavi to a long-term knee injury. Gavi will not play again this season, and will be deregistered, creating salary space for Barca to bring in Roque.

Barcelona is expected to attempt to sign a Gavi replacement in addition to Roque. Any deal, meanwhile, will need Barca to get a cash boost first. The German investment firm Libero, which is seeking to purchase a portion of Barca Studios for €40 million (£37 million/$43 million), is still a target for the club.

Gavi has appeared in 92% of his team’s games across all competitions since making his FC Barcelona debut in August 2021 (111/121).

After wrapping up his Brazilian campaign with Athletico Paranaense, Roque is expected to join Barcelona and start a new chapter in his career. In the race for a spot in the Barca attack, the 18-year-old will face off against some of the game’s biggest names, including Robert Lewandowski, Joao Felix, Raphinha, Ferran Torres, and Lamine Yamal.
