Vice Chancellor , University of Lagos ( UNILAG ) , Prof . Oluwatoyin Ogundipe has called for a synergy between the institution and its alumni to make it a brand and world- class university. Ogundipe spoke at the second Engineering Faculty alumni lecture titled , “Alumni association: A veritable tool for networking and promotion of professionalism”. He said his plans towards making UNILAG a world -class institution included building a mini refinery and setting up of skills acquisition centre for the students . Ogundipe said this is being done in partnership with the Central Bank of Nigeria ( CBN) and Bank of Industry .
Managing Director , Krista Laurel Limited , Dideolu Falobi , who was the guest speaker highlighted ways of funding alumni associations and also how active members could benefit from such .
According to him , “ Networking among alumni associations could bring about connections that could give the career and job of the person a boost .
He also urged members to give back to the growth of the faculty.
