How Police Nabbed Soldier Who Stabbed Abia Man To Death

Saeed Sabo, a private soldier with the Nigerian Army’s 82nd Division in Enugu, is being held by police for fatally stabbing a 34-year-old man in Umuahia, Abia State, on Saturday.

 

Offor Uchenna, 34, a resident of Olokoro in Umuahia South, Abia State, was reportedly stabbed in the right side of his chest, just below his breast, by a soldier working for a Chinese construction firm in Umuahia.

According to reports, the two got into a fight at around 10 a.m. on Saturday near the Umuahia railway station because the soldier was unable to pay for the items he had previously purchased before making a new purchase.

“The soldier slapped the man who then grabbed the soldier by the uniform”, an eyewitness said, adding that the soldier now stabbed him with his bayonet.

The victim was treated right away at the Federal Medical Centre Umuahia, where he was pronounced dead.

The remains have been deposited at the mortuary.

 

The police have received the suspect to conduct additional research and perhaps bring charges.

When contacted, SP Geoffrey Ogbonna, the Police PRO in charge of the Abia State command, verified the event and stated that the inquiry has started.

All efforts to get a reaction from the Army Command at Ohafia proved abortive.
