How Leroy Sane Shoved In Face By Union Berlin Coach

Bayern Munich forward, Leroy Sane was shoved in the face by Union Berlin boss Nenad Bjelica on Wednesdays, which saw the manager given his marching orders.

Following a shocking loss to Werder Bremen on Sunday, Harry Kane and co were able to get back to their winning ways thanks to a goal from Raphael Guerreiro early in the second half. But in the 75th minute, Bjelica’s moment of confusion stole the show, overshadowing the full-back’s valiant efforts.

Bayern were awarded a throw-in following a poor touch from Jerome Roussillon. Sane went to collect the ball for the throw-in when Bjelica intervened. The manager picked up the ball and held it out of Sane’s reach despite his team chasing the game.

Sane swung his hand to retrieve the ball which angered Bjelica. He then shoved Sane away and went on to hit again despite being stopped by another Union staffer. Immediately, referee Frank Willenborg took out the red card from his pocket and asked him to head down the tunnel.

Speaking to Sky Sports Germany after the match, Bjelica said: “Sane pushed me in my zone and then I reacted. But [the shove]’s unacceptable, what I did cannot be tolerated. I understand the red card.”

Bjelica headed to the stands after he was shown the red card, before heading to the press box where he found a seat among the reporters.

In the Bundesliga on Sunday, Union Berlin will resume play against Darmstadt without Bjelica in the dugout.

In contrast, Bayern has closed the gap with league leaders Bayer Leverkusen to four points. On Saturday, they will play at Augsburg.
