How Husband Allegedly Detains, Starves Wife For 1 year

In Nguru town, Yobe State, a woman who had been held captive by her husband for a year with scant food has been rescued.

According to reports, Sadiya, a mother of four, lived solely off of kunu, a native beverage, thanks to her husband Ibrahim Yunusa Bature.

He asserted that he imprisoned her and forbade food from being given to her out of concern that his family members were attempting to harm her and would succeed if she ate.

Hadiza, Sadiya’s mother, came to her aid. Hadiza made the decision to come from Kano state, where she currently resides, to Nguru, Yobe state, where her daughter resides because she was uncomfortable with the way her daughter sounded over the phone. She found herself there, mere inches from death.

When she was discovered, Sadiya could not walk, so her mother hurried her to the Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital in Kano, where she is now receiving treatment while calling for justice against her in-law.

An impeccable source who pleaded anonymity told Daily Post that, “The victim’s mother revealed that she travelled to Nguru from Kano to see her daughter when she felt uncomfortable with her voice on phone, but only to meet her in a near-death situation as cannot even walk due to hunger and other ailments.

“The woman was starved by her husband who alleged that his family members are trying to harm her if she eats food.

“He only provides kunu (a local drink) to her whenever she demands for food and has prevented people from gaining access to her room”.
