A driver’s attempted run to evade capture along the Osogbo-Ilobu-Ogbomoso road has caused the death of 6 Ladoke Akintola University (LAUTECH) students.
The Eagle gathered that the driver had hit a commercial motorcycle popularly known as Okada in Okinni on Wednesday night, and in an attempt to evade capture this angered the residents, leading to the driver’s overspeed and loss of control of the vehicle.
In that instance, three occupants, the driver, a female and a male student were burnt to death after their bus lost control and somersaulted.
Meanwhile, the Osun Ambulance Service, O’Ambulance, had rescued six other occupants after responding to the distress call from the scene of the accident.
However, new reports reveals three of the students have passed on.
The Head of Operations, O’Ambulance, Elizabeth Arowosafe confirmed that three more victims of the accident had died.
“I just left UNIOSUN Teaching Hospital now. Three of those we took there survived. We have moved two others to UCH in Ibadan. One of them is still at UNIOSUN Teaching Hospital. The other three could not make it. We now have six corpses.”
