A new detail has emerged on how ARISE News Channel’s anchor and producer, Somtochukwu Maduagwu, made desperate efforts to save herself from the armed robbers that invaded her home.
The 15 armed marauders had stormed her 4-story building residence, located in the Katampe area of Abuja, around 3am on Monday, September 29, and ended up taking away her life.
Providing an insight on the circumstances of her death, a presenter on the the station’s ‘The Morning Show’ programme yesterday, Ojinika Okpe stated:
“She jumped down from her home when she heard about 14 armed robbers came to her home.
“She did not die on the spot. She went to the hospital, and she was rejected.

“Her life could have been saved, but the hospital rejected her,” Okpe said.
Police says it is investigating the matter and would soon get to the roots.
The Eagle also reports the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Commissioner of Police, Ajao Adewale, stating the men of the force were not negligent of their duty to the late broadcaster.
Adewale, in an interview with Arise News said instead that officers on finding Maduagwu unconscious at the scene of the attack, rushed her to the hospital.
“Policemen moved to the scene and found her lying unconscious.
“She was immediately taken to Maitama General Hospital, where doctors tried to resuscitate her using CPR, but sadly, she could not make it,” Adewale said.
The police commissioner added “FCT Command once again commiserates with the family of Sommie, the Arise News family, and Nigerians deeply touched by this ugly and disturbing incident”.
