Guardiola Provides Injury Update on Haaland, De Bruyne, Doku

Pep Guardiola says Manchester City are still without Erling Haaland, Kevin De Bruyne and Jeremy Doku for their home clash against Sheffield United.

In the first game of the season, midfielder De Bruyne hurt his hamstring; winger Doku has been out since early December due to a muscular problem; and forward Haaland has missed the last three weeks due to a foot injury. Guardiola has stated that none of the three will be ready to take against Chris Wilder’s team at the Etihad on Saturday after defender John Stones hobbled off against Everton in the middle of the week due to an ankle injury.

On Friday, Guardiola said in his pre-match press conference: “Nothing has changed from the last games. The same are injured plus John Stones.”

Despite fourth-placed City not having their best start to the season and missing some key players through injury, they are just five points behind league leaders Liverpool – plus, they have a game in hand. When these players are back available, look out the rest of the Premier League.

Following their year-ending matchup with the Blades, City will begin their FA Cup defence against Championship team Huddersfield Town at home on January 7. Six days later, they will play again in the Premier League, this time on the road against Newcastle United.
