Greenwood Set To Follow Messi’s Footprint If He Joins Barcelona

Manchester United Loanee, Mason Greenwood will be offered the chance to follow in Lionel Messi’s footsteps by wearing the iconic No.10 shirt at Barcelona, if he joins the club.

Barcelona is reportedly keen to sign the attacker from Manchester United on a permanent deal, and according to The Sun, they’re even willing to give him the iconic shirt number that eight-time Ballon d’Or winner Messi wears in an effort to beat out the competition.

After Greenwood’s performances in Spain since joining Getafe on loan from United, several clubs are interested in buying him permanently, including Barca. Despite competition from other teams, the Madrid team is reportedly proposing £40 million ($51.2 million) to buy him outright after he has scored five goals in 15 games for them. After the 22-year-old was charged with domestic abuse and sexual assault, the charges were later dismissed; however, United may be willing to permanently split ways with him.

It is probable that Greenwood will remain in La Liga with Getafe for the remainder of the season before to deciding on his future. On January 2, when they play Rayo Vallecano in the Spanish top division, he will try to increase his goal tally.
