Full List Of Togo, Benin Republic Universities We Recognise -FG

The Nigerian government has released a full list of accredited universities in Togo and Benin Republic it deems fit to award degrees to Nigerians.

The Minister of Education, Tahir Mamman, released the list of such recognised Togo and Benin Republic universities on Channels Television.

According to him, the federal government only recognised three institutions in Togo and five in Benin Republic.

Advising prospective students to be wary of Togo and Benin Republic universitie, Mamman listed the recognized universities thus:

  2. Universite De Kara
  3. Catholic University of West Africa

The minister also listed five accredited universities authorised to provide degree programs in Benin Republic of Benin for students from Nigeria.

For Benin Republic:

  1. Universite D’abomey-Calavi
  2. Universite De Parakou
  3. Universite Nationale Des Sciences, Technologis Ingenierie Et Mathematiques
  4. Universite Nationale D’ Agriculture
  5. Universite Africaine De Devlopment Cooperatif

The Eagle reports that the West Coast of Africa has had an increasing relevance in the education of Nigerians, especially in lieu of the rampant break in academic calendars at home, as well as in cost consideration.

Besides, many parents who are not positioned to send their wards to the Europe and America for further studies, have tended to explore the opportunity presented by universities in West Africa.

But was blurred with news of unaccredited or improperly regulated academic schedules and calendars in those places.

In indirectly referencing this, the minister was resolute in cancelling about 22,700 certificates awarded by Togo and Benin Republic universities which do not have requisite accreditation.

“Most of those parading the fake certificates didn’t even leave the shores of Nigeria but got their certificates through racketeering in collaboration with government officials at home and abroad.

“The “fake universities” capitalised on the “gullibility” of Nigerians patronising such fake schools.

“The federal government, through the offices of the Head of Civil Service and the Secretary of the Federation, would fish out those in the government’s employment with such fake certificates. I also urge the private sector to follow suit.”
