Former Petroleum Minister as well as Minister of Education, Professor Jibril Aminu, is dead, aged 85.
Aminu, a multi-disciplinarian who held enviable positions in diplomacy, politics and business was aged 85.
His funeral obsequies held at about 2pm today at the Abuja National Mosque, after which his remains would be flown to Yola and then to Song Local Government Area, Adamawa State, for burial.
An alumnus of the University of Ibadan and the Royal Postgraduate Medical School, London, in 1965, and 1972 respectively, Jibril Aminu was an accomplished personality who has held important national and international positions.
He had been Minister of Education, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources as well as Nigeria’s Ambassador to the United States.

He later joined politics and became Senator representing Adamawa Central in the 2003–2011 political dispensation; later delegate to the National Constitutional Conference and 1994 and 1995.
While serving as Petroleum Minister, Jibril Aminu was elected President of the African Petroleum Producers’ Organisation in 1991 and also served as President of the OPEC Conference between 1991 and 1992.
