Former Everton Coach Hails Iwobi Fine Form

Prior to Saturday’s Premier League matchup against Everton, Fulham manager Marco Silva spoke on Alex Iwobi’s significance.

The Nigerian international was acquired by the Toffees from Arsenal on August 8, 2019, when the 45-year-old Portuguese strategist signed a five-year deal.

Iwobi played sparingly under Silva, but the Super Eagle has improved under Frank Lampard, who took over for Rafa Benitez in January 2022.

Silva, who led the Toffees for just 18 months, lauded Iwobi’s development and claimed that he was now displaying the traits that led the coach to sign him in the first place. Silva was speaking ahead of the Fulham vs. Everton match at Craven Cottage.

He said; “Iwobi is doing well and showing the quality I knew he had,” Silva said as quoted by West London Sport.

“He can play out wide or in the middle like he is now and is a dynamic player.

“It is clear to me that he is helping Everton a lot on and off the ball and the players around him are giving him the support to play with a bit more freedom as well.”

Iwobi, 26, managed to make 12 appearances for Everton this season and scored one goal. He has helped his teammates score five goals.

In his final game, Iwobi produced two assists as Everton defeated Crystal Palace 3-0 at Goodison Park.

When Everton visits Craven Cottage to play Fulham on Saturday, he will undoubtedly receive another start. Having accrued 13 points over 12 games, the Toffees are now ranked 12th.
