Fix Gallagher Situation – Pochettino Calls on Chelsea Board

Amidst reports of a transfer to Tottenham, Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino has urged the team to “fix” Conor Gallagher’s contract problem.

The 24-year-old midfielder, who is out of contract in the summer of 2025, has been among Chelsea’s finest players this season, but it doesn’t seem like he’s any closer to signing a new contract. The England international has received a lot of praise from manager Pochettino, who has once again urged the Blues to keep him at Stamford Bridge while negotiations with Spurs and Newcastle United continue.

Following Chelsea’s 2-0 victory over Tottenham on Thursday, in which Gallagher once again shown his skills, the Argentine was questioned about Gallagher’s future.

He replied: “I am not involved. I do not know nothing.”

When quizzed on how important he was to Chelsea, he added: “You can see. My starting XI, the whole season he has always been there, in all of the circumstances he is always there. I am not involved in the decision. It is a situation they need to fix between the club and the player.”

Gallagher may yet be sold this summer, despite the fact that he has nine assists and six goals this season across all competitions. Gallagher was previously on loan at Crystal Palace. Chelsea worries that selling an academy product like Gallagher, who is reputedly valued at £60 million ($75.3 million), will result in their balance sheet showing “pure profit” and put them in violation of the Premier League’s profit and sustainability regulations. Though it is evident that the supporters do not want him to leave, the midfielder’s time with the team may be running out.

With four games remaining, Gallagher’s Chelsea team, now seventh in the Premier League, will next take on London rivals West Ham at Stamford Bridge on Sunday before travelling to the dreary Nottingham Forest the following Saturday.
