The Federal Polytechnic Ilaro, marked the one year anniversary recently, of Dr. Mukhail Aremu Akinde as rector with many milestones.

 Dr Akinde who resumed office  on September 27, 2022, is, in fact being credited with leaving an indelible mark in the country, with both physical infrastructure and academic programme

In the area of curriculum development for example, he is credited with introducing an innovative approach of streamlining the lecture timetable and courses thereby improving efficiency.

As a result, it has become easier for both students and staff to access their class schedules, ultimately leading to an enhanced teaching and learning experience.

In early 2023, the Webometric ranking rated the Federal Polytechnic, Ilaro, as the best Polytechnic in the country.

 The Polytechnic is believed to have achieved this feat through the rector’s visionary leadership.

He also introduced the Memorial Lecture in honour of the 4th Rector of the Polytechnic, Dr. R. A. Oloyo, whose shocking death occurred in February 2023.

With a Committee on Power and Electricity, he has successfully improved the power supply to the Polytechnic, thereby alleviating  longstanding issues related to inconsistent electricity, and providing a conducive environment for learning.

Dr Akinde’s leadership has fostered an atmosphere of harmony among the staff and students,

A significant milestone during his first year in office was the inauguration of a campus-based television station known as Poly TV, Ilaro.

The commissioning of the TV Station coincides with his first anniversary, and is expected to enhance communication within the institution, providing  a platform for showcasing the Polytechnic’s achievements.

Other accomplishments of note include the appointment of two Chief Lecturers from the Federal Polytechnic, Ilaro, as Rectors of the Ogun State Polytechnic of Health and Allied Sciences, Ilese Ijebu, and the Ogun State Institute of Technology, Igbesa; a 100% accreditation and re-accreditation of all the programmes presented to the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE), and the establishment of a new School of Agricultural Technology within the institution.
