Failure To Marry Rich Men: Granddaughters Set Grandmother Ablaze

Three ladies have sent their 96 year old grandmother to the great beyond for allegedly being behind their failure to marry rich men.

Tamara Mazyopa 29, female juvenile aged 18 and Beatrice Nyoni aged 19 years, not only set the woman ablaze, but locked her in to ensure she had no chance of escape.

The sisters, all of Chipeni village, in Mambwe district, Eastern Province of Zambia said their grandmother Maria Nkhoma , did this through bewitching them, making it difficult for them to find stable husbands.

The incident which happened on Monday has left the villagers mortified, but the police has arrested the alleged culprits putting them in detention.

Reports said they lit grass which they collected from the grass thatched kitchen, with curtains which they used in burning the 96 year-old woman to death.

Eastern Province Police Commanding Officer Robertson Mweemba, while confirming the incident to Breeze FM News, identified the suspects by name.

Mweemba said that investigations revealed that the murder was initiated by Tamara Mazyopa the eldest.

The Police Commanding Officer stated that the body has been deposited at Mambwe district hospital mortuary awaiting postmortem.
