Education Financing: NELFUND States How Dangote Scholarship Scheme..

The Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) has stated how education financing in the country stands to be impacted by the Dangote Scholarship scheme.

The fund spoke with reference to the N100bn annual education scholarship initiative by the Aliko Dangote Foundation.

In a statement by its Director of Strategic Communications, Oseyemi Oluwatuyi, the fund stated that the scholarship scheme would help to widen access to education funding in the country.

He described the initiative as a bold demonstration of private-sector partnership in line with the President’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

He also spoke about what he called the administration’s commitment to expanding access to quality education for every Nigerian child.

Speaking on the occasion of the unveiling of the scholarship initiative, he stated:

“On behalf of NELFUND, we applaud President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for championing collaborative solutions that strengthen our education system.

“The Dangote Foundation’s N100bn annual scholarship scheme directly complements the President’s agenda to remove financial barriers for students and empower the next generation of Nigerian talent,” the Managing Director of NELFUND, Akintunde Sawyerr, said in the statement.

“NELFUND stands ready to engage, support and work collaboratively to maximise the reach and effectiveness of this programme.

“We are committed to ensuring that no Nigerian is denied educational opportunity due to financial constraints,” he added.

Sawyerr spoke about the fund’s commitment to STEM-focused scholarship, saying that it would greatly enhance education financing.

He iterated the important role of partnerships between the government, private sector and development stakeholders in building a robust education ecosystem saying this would help the course of Nigeria’s socio-economic development.
