Famous musician Drake has been known for his brief forays into football and is frequently involved in high-stakes wagers at important sporting events.

He placed a large $1 million wager on Argentina to win the World Cup by defeating France, it was revealed prior to the World Cup final. But it later turned out that the wager didn’t win, therefore he lost his enormous amount.

Drake was unsuccessful in his wager since he expected Argentina to defeat France in regulation time despite the heroics of La Albiceleste in stopping Kylian Mbappe‘s best efforts, who scored a hat-trick on the night. That appeared to be a very real possibility at one point, when Lionel Scaloni’s team had a commanding 2-0 lead before Mbappe erupted. Even after 120 minutes, the score remained 3-3. Argentina eventually won the game 4-2 on penalties, and Lionel Messi received the game’s most coveted award.

According to Fox News, the issue was that Drake “bet in a market where extra time isn’t counted and the result is determined based on the score after 90 minutes of play.

Drake would have earned around $2.75 million if Argentina had been able to cling on and win in the first 90 minutes.
