Digital Transformation Takes Centre Stage At WBG Youth Summit

The dynamics of youths involvement in global digital transformation, would take the centerstage when a World Bank Group (WBG)-sponsored youth summit holds May 30 and 31, 2024.

With Powering Progress: Youth Leading the Digital Transformation as driving theme, the summit is expected to explore the power of technology in driving prosperity and fostering sustainable development.

The organisers see the event as an opportunity for change-makers from around the world to come together to discuss innovative ideas and solutions for development challenges, including the critical issue of digital transformation.

“The Summit is more than an event; it’s a catalyst for change, uniting youth to harness technology against the backdrop of digital access, AI, and sustainable tech”, say the planners

“It’s a call to action for the digitally divided, a platform for marginalised voices, and a beacon for those ready to lead the digital transformation”.

The Day 1 of the youth summit would host talks around the major theme: Powering Progress: Youth Leading the Digital Transformation, a Roundtable with youth-led organisations.

Delegates are expected to exchange knowledge and best practices to forge development solutions in the digital era.
A second presentation is “AI for All: Harnessing Artificial Intelligence for Global Progress, and would explore how young innovators are leveraging AI to bridge the digital divide and propel sustainable development.

It would include also, those affected by fragility, conflict and violence, women in technology sector, and rural youth.
Day II on the other hand, would witness Live Presentations by the Finalists to a Pitch Competition, followed by an award ceremony.

With their population and abundant energy, youths are believed to hold the development ace for their nations, and this has informed the increased emphasis on them and their inclusion in critical development issues.
