Derby Match: Jorginho Reacts To ‘Painful Mistake’ Against Tottenham 

Jorginho has thanked Arsenal supporters for sticking with him on the back of his “painful mistake” in the latest north London derby.

At Emirates Stadium, the Gunners took the lead twice against their bitter rivals Tottenham thanks to goals from Bukayo Saka, who first forced a Cristian Romero own goal before converting from the penalty spot. However, they were compelled to accept a share of the points in a thrilling 2-2 tie.

Son Heung-min netted a double of his own for Spurs, with the second of those efforts gifted to him by Jorginho. The Italy international – within seconds of Saka scoring from 12 yards – dwelt on the ball in the middle of the park, allowing James Maddison to pick his pocket and tee up Son for another leveller.

Jorginho posted on Instagram about how his name was being chanted by supporters instead of being criticised, potentially costing Arsenal two crucial points: “A painful mistake today, but seeing how everyone reacted after my mistake to support and lift me up, my team-mates, coaches, staff and you Arsenal fans. It gives me even more motivation to work harder and harder, because all of you deserve the best version of myself. Thank you so much for the support Arsenal family.”

With six wins and 14 points out of a possible 18 in the Premier League, Arsenal is still unbeaten so far this season. They will next play on Wednesday when they take on Brentford in the Carabao Cup third round.
