If there was time and necessity for citizens of Delta State to protest, it is certainly not this period of the coronavirus pandemic.
This was the submission of the Delta State Commissioner for Information, Mr Charles Aniagwu who was reacting to yesterday’s protest embarked by Sapele residents.
Crediting it to those whom he said were opposed to the government, he said it was ill-timed, and wrong for people to use a weighty matter to pitch their tent against the government rather than focusing it on how coronavirus could be defeated.
Aniagwu said the struggle was not between people and the government, adding that the struggle was between the government and the people on one side and COVID-19 on the other side.
Asserting that the life of every Deltan was important, and that the governor was working to protecting such lives from the virus, he expressed the hope that normalcy would soon return.
He also urged the people to continue to cooperate with the government in the fight against the pandemic.
According to him, the state government had concluded plans to distribute food palliative this weekend, in its bid to secure the welfare of the citizens.
