Danger- Why Imam Is Invoking Allah’s Anger On Uninvited Mosque Visitors

A mosque is supposed to be a place of supplication and rectitude but some visitors to the Ilasan Estate Central Mosque, Eti-Osa, Lagos, are turning it into something else.

They are making it a regular place of thievery to the extent that the Chief Imam, Alhaji Al-Ma’aruf Ahmad, has had to cry out.

The Eagle Correspondent reports the Islamic cleric as invoking Allah’s anger an any youth who would not heed his advice to desist from stealing mosque property.

The Chief Imam gave this piece of advice in the pulpit while delivering the sermon before the Jummah prayer, remarking that youths should imbibe the fear of God in all their deeds.

He added that some religious impostors among the youths have chosen stealing from mosques as a daily activity, warning against repercussions.

Ahmad recounted that on 20, February, 2020 some infidels joined the Muslims in the evening prayer (Magrib) at Orisunmibare mosque and stole away three android phones.

The phones, he said were stolen at charging points while the Muslim faithfuls were at the position of prostration (Sujud).

The Muhazin of the mosque ( he that calls people to prayer), Mr. Shakirulahi Ogunderu, said wall fan, rechargable lights and gallon of petrol were stolen some weeks back, he noted that members of the could not catch the perpetrator(s) because suspicion of a worshipper is not allowed in Islam.

“Well, I know that those doing these nefarious activities will be caught soon as I believe that God will surely unveil the masks of the criminals,” he said.

The Chief Tafsir of Ilasan Estate Central Mosque, Alhaji Mudathir Ibrahim, said some members from Tawakalitu Mosque and Opeloyeru Mosque have also brought the same complaint.

He added that generator and inner speaker were stolen from Tawakalitu Mosque; and ceiling fans and amplifier engine from Opeloyeru Mosque respectively.

He told the youths after the Jummah service that no one who stole from the house of Allah escaped being caught, noting that youths should be prayerful and contented with what Allah had provided them.

“A phone was stolen from a worshiper at Al-Kitab Mosque while praying in congregational prayer. Is it a good idea to shut the mosque after each prayer?” , he rhetorically asked.
