‘Cybercrime Has Taken Over In Major Parts Of Lagos Especially In..
Twenty three year old Emmanuel Bassey, an aluminum contractor is not finding life in Lagos funny.
This young hustler complains that “sapa” has really dealt with him here.
Though he has a job, he does not seem to see the correlation between his hard work and his earnings as a big chunk of his earnings is swallowed by the high cost of living making it impossible for him to enjoy it as well as he should.
Emmanuel is one of the few who still believe in making legit income using his skills because In recent times, Lagos seems to be breeding a booming generation of scammers as cybercrime has taken over in major parts of Lagos especially in places like Lekki and Ikorodu.

This was confirmed In a press release in September 2021 by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Lekki had become a bane for cybercrime, adding that about 402 suspects have been arrested between April and June 2021.
Despite the constant arrests of the perpetrators through various string operations, young boys now prefer to be “yahoo boys” just so they can feel among and move out of the trenches.
To Daniel, a freelance writer, “you need experience to live in Lagos”. The high cost of transportation and waking up to open defecation every morning in his neighbourhood are issues that need to be looked into. However, on the flip side, “Lagos is the city of dreams, where you can see the celebrities you idolize”.
Heavy Traffic, over population, high crime rate and environmental pollution are the major issues in Lagos. Though the smallest in Nigeria, Lagos harbors about 15.4 million people.
To curb the menace of heavy traffic, the Lagos state government dedicated specific track for the bus rapid transit (BRT) system, however, commuters still spend over 3 hours in traffic every day thus making it difficult to move freely.
With all its vibe and hype, moving around Lagos is never easy, every day births its own hurdles and no two days in a week are the same but, your ability to maneuver a population of about 15.4 million people every day successfully puts some respect to your name and earns you the right to be called a “lagosian”

Especially if you ever worked on the island while living on the mainland but still had to commute to work every morning. You would have to wake up extra early if you don’t want to lose your job for coming late.
From the conductor harassing you or taking your change, a flat tire that left you and other passengers stranded, the long queue at BRT bus stop, the high cost of transportation once its night or when it rains, the experiences are both fun and unending.

Some are of the view that laws against open defecation, disobeying traffic rules and receiving bribes at checkpoints need to be upheld at all cost because most bus and tricycle drivers give up their day’s earnings to thugs if they want to make ends meet.
The need to make as well implement these laws in the state would go a long way to reduce the stress of living in Lagos.
