The Nigeria Customs Service, Tincan Island Command, is optimistic cargo clearance would be more efficient with the deployment of its B’Odogwu System.
The Customs Area Controller of the command, Frank Onyeka, shared this great optimism while speaking with some journalists, said the exercise would now take only 2 hours.
“When B’Odogwu comes to Tincan and you declare appropriately, you can move your goods in two hours. Because B’Odogwu is ours, B’Odogwu is fresh, B’Odogwu is network glitch-free,” Onyeka said.
Onyeka said the command was already engaging in massive sensitisation of stakeholders and training of appropriate personnel, amidst urging importers and clearing agents to always be honest with their declarations.
“Sensitisation is ongoing, and we believe that once we can spread that good news, we will get more people on board.
“We did a practical exam here for them to know the right buttons to press. Obviously, for things that are starting, it is not automatic. We are bound to have challenges, and those challenges are what we are trying to address”.
Providing insight on the activities of the Tincan command, command, he said it generated N145bn in revenue in the month of April 2025, compared to the N95.7bn it generated within the same period last year.

And even with the year still running, the command he further informed, had garnered about N27bn , indicating an even improved revenue generation by year’s end.
The Comptroller, however, admitted that the level of compliance at the Tincan port is increasing drastically.
The Customs Area Controller also stated that there has been an improvement in the level of compliance to customs rules by port users, saying this has accounted to less seizures.
