Corper: Court Hands Down Heavy Sentence On Gospel Singer

A High Court sitting in Lafia, the Nasarawa State capital on Thursday handed down a heavy sentence on a gospel singer, Oluwatimileyin Ajayi, for what he did to his girlfriend.

The 31-year-old gospel singer sent his girlfriend, 24 year old serving corper, Salome Adaidu, to the great beyond, when she visited him at his residence in Papaladna village.

Papaladna is located in Karshi Development Area, Karu Local Government Area in Nasarawa State.

The presiding judge, Justice Simon Aboki ruled that the prosecuting counsel had proved the case beyond every reasonable doubt that the corper was actually sent to the great beyond by the gospel singer.

It just defrayed the defendant’s claim that he became unconscious after having a good time with his girlfriend, and was unconscious when he wrote his confessional statement.

Stating that Ajayi was convicted under Section 221 of the Penal Code of Northern Nigeria, Justice Aboki added:

“The law is clear on this, and the punishment is death. Therefore, the accused is hereby sentenced to death by hanging,” Justice Aboki ruled.
