China Plans To Establish Military Bases In These 4 African Countries

China plans to establish military bases in a named four African countries, as a way of strengthening her strategic position in global affairs.

This coming from the US Department of Defense, which mentioned the countries to be Kenya, Seychelles, Tanzania and Angola.

But that is not all; many others are believed to be in tow, a development that would give the country edge in her military and diplomatic maneuverings in not just African but in the world.

The report that was published last week was widely reported over the weekend, with some of the countries where the bases are to be set up denying being in discussions with China.

“Beyond its current base in Djibouti, the PRC [People’s Republic of China] is very likely already considering and planning for additional overseas military logistics facilities to support naval, air, and ground forces,” the report says in part.

It says China has likely considered locations for military logistics facilities in Myanmar, Thailand, Singapore, Indonesia, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, United Arab Emirates, Kenya, Seychelles, Tanzania, Angola, and Tajikistan.

It added that China and Cambodia have publicly denied having signed an agreement to provide the plan with access to Cambodia’s Ream Naval Base.

From the African perspective, the feats that China has recorded in trade expansion, and in the deployment of technology to improving economic well-being and its military might are major attractions.

This is coupled with the relative ease in obtaining credits for a variety of purposes and uses..

A motivation, say some experts, is how, over time, Beijing has systematically perfected protection and promotion of its own economic and industrial interests through medium and long term economic planning.

Also, African countries seem to find Chinese technology more adaptable thatn the high tech is obtainable in other western countries, the same way they could easily relate with China’s trade improvement, within a comparatively short time.
