Chelsea To Stick By Under-Fire Manager Graham Potter Despite Miserable Run

Chelsea boss, Graham Potter’s position is reportedly under no serious threat, with the Blues prepared to judge him “in years not months”.

When he took over as manager at Stamford Bridge after Thomas Tuchel, the 47-year-old tactician was given a five-year contract that runs through 2027.

Only nine of his 23 games under his direction have resulted in victories, and because of this, uncomfortable doubts about his future in west London have been raised.

The Athletic report that the Blues board will be patient with the newest candidate to fill the warmest of Premier League hot seats. Some Chelsea fans have turned against Potter at times, while others are willing to give him the benefit of the doubt.

Potter’s future will not be decided by his performance in the Champions League this year, ahead of a matchup with Borussia Dortmund in the last 16, or by his attempt to finish in the top four in 2022–23. Short-term goals must be realistic given that the Blues are now eighth in the English premier division.

Potter took over a squad that had been expensively assembled, and more significant funds were spent during the January transfer window because Todd Boehly and company understand that he needs time to put all the pieces of a complex puzzle together, much like Mikel Arteta did at Arsenal before making the Gunners title contenders.
