Chart: Nigeria Records Improved Power Generation

Nigeria’s power generation has remained progressive in the last two days hitting 5,313MW and Monday, and 5,527.40MW yesterday.
This has raised hope of improved power supply and access nationwide, The Eagle can report
Nigeria’s power generation made history, rising to a three-year high of 5,313mw on Monday.
A statement by by Mr Bolaji Tunji, Special Adviser on Strategic Communication and Media Relations to the Minister of Power, Mr Adebayo Adelabu, describes it as making history.

He however urged Electricity Distribution Companies (DisCos) to take more energy in order to prevent a grid collapse.
”When power is produced and not picked by the DisCos, it could lead to grid collapse as frequency drops.
”Efforts will be made to encourage industries to purchase bulk energy,” he said.
This is happening amidst a concerted efforts by the relevant ministries to ensure effective energy generation, distribution and consumption in the country.
Energy generated for the day was 113,897.16MWh while the quantity sent out was 111,734.67MWh, The Eagle’s findings show.
The ministers in collaboration are the Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu, Environment, Balarabe Abbas Lawal, Water resources and Sanitation, Engineer Joseph Utsev, Budget and Planning, Atiku Bagudu as well as the Minister of State (Gas) Petroleum Resources, Heineken Lokpobiri.
The have emphasised the importance of the power sector generally and better power generation particularly in achieving economic growth and industrialization.

This was at the inaugural meeting of the Inter-Ministerial Power Sector Working Group held at Power House, Ministry of Power, Abuja.
They highlighted the need for collaboration in tackling power sector challenges, with Adelabu emphasizing the importance of the power sector as a major driver of economic growth.
