A casual worker has been honoured for his honesty after he returned For returning $16,000 belonging to another person.

Dayyabu Haladu (aka) Dan Gezawa, a casual worker with the Kano State Pilgrims Welfare Board found the missing $16,000 and duly returned it to the owner.

Dayyabu Haladu showed his act of rare honesty during the last Hajj operation in Kano.

For such honesty, the Kano Governor, Abba Yusuf has now offered him a Permanent and Pensionable appointment

Even while working towards his first salary in the new post, Haladu would have some cash to fall on, as the government also gave him N1million special gift as well as automatic slot for the forthcoming Hajj Exercise.

The presentation happened at the Kano State Pilgrims Welfare Board where the governor expressed his heart-felt appreciation to the casual worker for such display of honesty.

According to the governor, Haladu just displayed an excellent character worthy of emulation.

 “As a casual staff whose allowance is nothing to take home about, this gentleman managed to return the lost money worth over 15 million. It shows how this person has a fear of Allah and he deserved to be celebrated”, the governor said in a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Sanusi Bature.

In his response, Haladu cited the fear of Allah as his reason for returning the money.

He said he was influenced by his conviction that it was not proper to appropriate what did not belong to him.

He described the moment as the most joyful in his life while also thanking the state Governor for the gesture extended to him.
