Tuesday saw the appointment of Balogun Akin Osuntokun to the position of Director-General of the Labour Party’s presidential campaign council.

 

Osuntokun succeeded Dr. Doyin Okupe, who resigned last week after being sentenced to two years in prison for breaking the Money Laundering Act by the Federal High Court.

1. Akin Osuntokun, a political scientist, strategist, researcher, administrator, journalist, and writer from Nigeria, is 61 years old.

 

2. He also has extensive experience in political analysis, policy research and execution, and media advocacy.

3. He is a native of Ekiti State, which is located in Nigeria’s southwest. The New Labour campaign DP attended Christ’s School in Ado Ekiti, Ekiti State, as well as the University of Ibadan in Ibadan, Oyo State, for his schooling.

4. Between 1999 to 2007, Osuntokun served as the former president Olusegun Obasanjo’s political advisor.
