Cameroon Dam Release Sparks Major Flooding in 13 Nigerian States 
In a distressing turn of events, the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) has declared a dire situation in 13 Nigerian states due to devastating flooding, following the sudden release of water from Cameroon’s Lagdo Dam. 

Mr. Dapo Akingbade, a representative of NEMA, made this announcement during the monthly meeting of the Water Sanitation and Hygiene in the Emergency Working Group in Abuja, the international community is urged to come together to address this burgeoning humanitarian crisis.

The implications of the flooding are profound, with the loss of 45 lives, displacement of a staggering 171,545 individuals, and extensive damage to farmlands and property in the affected states. 

The need for international cooperation becomes increasingly apparent as this natural disaster transcends national borders, emphasizing the importance of collaboration between Nigeria and Cameroon to manage and mitigate the consequences of the dam release, and to establish protocols to prevent such disasters in the future.
