Bullion Records Joins Legends Eedris AbdulKareem, Baba Fryo; Rising Stars GyC, Ajaba for Spectacular MC Smily’s show

Saturday, June 8, 2024, will forever remain etched in the memories of Mowe residents and its environs as a night of unparalleled entertainment. The Crown Event Centre, Asolo, played host to an unforgettable show organized by the dynamic MC Smily, featuring an impressive lineup of Nigerian entertainment heavyweights and rising stars.

The much-anticipated event saw the presence of the CEO of Bullion Records, Ambassador Olufemi Ajadi Oguntoyinbo, along with other top executives of the record label. Bullion Records, recently celebrated as the Outstanding Record Label of the Year at the 2024 Golden Stars Award held on June 2 at The Lekki Coliseum, Lagos, was honored for its significant contributions to the Nigerian music industry.

Veteran musical icons Eedris AbdulKareem, Baba Fryo, and Nollywood actress Shan George were among the star-studded guests. They were joined by sensational new artists like Bullion Records’ latest prodigy, Fortune Kingsley Ukeme, popularly known as GyC, and the rising star Ajaba.

Eedris AbdulKareem, born on December 24, 1974, in Kano, is a trailblazer in Nigerian hip hop. Known for his provocative hits “Mr. Lecturer” and “Jaga Jaga,” AbdulKareem’s recent works reflect themes of gratitude and resilience following his successful kidney transplant in 2023.

AbdulKareem’s performance at the event, under the theme “NO GREE FOR DEPRESSION,” was particularly poignant. Addressing the audience before his set, he urged young Nigerian artists to leverage their talents to advocate for societal change.

“It is high time young Nigerian artists started advocating for good governance through their talents, be it musicians or comedians,” AbdulKareem stated passionately. “Talents in the entertainment industry should start singing and making comic content that reflects the political, economic, and social realities in the nation.”

Baba Fryo, famous for his 1990s hit “Dem go dey pose,” brought a nostalgic touch to the evening, much to the delight of the audience.

Shan George, renowned for her roles in the movie “Outkast” and the soap opera “Winds of Destiny,” added a touch of Nollywood glamour to the event.

The highlight of the evening was the electrifying performance by GyC, who captivated the audience with his new single “Woman.” The catchy chorus, “God made man, man made money, God made woman to chop man’s money,” had the crowd, especially the ladies, dancing and singing along. GyC’s interactive performance included inviting young ladies to the stage to sing the chorus, promising famous gifts and cash prizes for their participation.

Comedians MC Smily, MC Mario, and MC George ensured the audience was entertained throughout the night with their hilarious comic acts, providing much-needed comic relief between performances.

The event was graced by Bullion Records’ top executives, including Managing Director Mr. Femi Ajibola, Financial Director Comrade Kilamuwaye Badmus, Head of Marketing Mr. Gbenga Olaitan Awoeyo, and Head of Media and Publicity Secretary Mr. Ibrahim Taofeek Kegbegbe. Their presence underscored the significance of the event and the label’s commitment to fostering talent and delivering quality entertainment.
