Breaking On Nnamdi Kanu’s Release: Abaribe Volunteers To Stand As Guarantor

Hope is rising again within the camp of the Indigenous People of Biafra following (IPOB) over its leader, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu’s release.

Stirring the fresh hope is the lawmaker representing Abia South, Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe, who is volunteering to stand as guarantor.

Abaribe, an experienced parliamentarian and Igbo leader of thought, hinged his hopes on the much expected Nnamdi Kanu’s release on what he described as President Bola Tinubu being a listening leader and being desirous of addressing the insecurity challenge in the South East.

“I expect that the President will listen to both his Attorney General and every one of us who have been agitating about the issues in the Southeast. First of all, the insurgency, the sit-at-home on Mondays, and every other thing we have noticed in the Southeast.

“What we now know in the Southeast is that criminals and all other people who advocate violence have taken over and are using the name of Nnamdi Kanu to perpetrate all these despicable acts.

“We know that the President, being a listening man, will also look at all the issues involved, which we have presented to him from various mediums; that he will do the needful and release Nnamdi Kanu so that it will put a stop to all these things that are happening in the Southeast and bring back the Southeast as the hub of production in Nigeria.”

Senator Abaribe Abaribe hoped the president would heed the advice of the Attorney General of the Federation and others who, before now, have called for Nnamdi Kanu’s release.

He had addressed the journalists shortly after visiting the Abia State governor Alex Otti, but it was not however clear whether the issue of the IPOB leader’s release featured in their discussion.

According to him, there would be wisdom in releasing Kanu as a way of encouraging production in the South East region

Referring to the president, Abaribe added: “He needs Nnamdi Kanu out so that all those things that are holding us down in the Southeast, that have made us not to produce as much as we ought to produce, will not be there,” Abaribe maintained.

According to him, leaders in the region would be ready to stand as guarantors for the release of Kanu.

“We continue to call on President Tinubu to release Nnamdi Kanu. We are ready and willing to be the guarantors for him to be released so that we can have life coming back into the Southeast and take it away from the criminals, kidnappers, the cultists and dangerous elements,” the lawmaker said.
