BREAKING – JAMB Suspends Use Of NIN For UTME, DE Registration
At long last, the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board has suspended the use of the National Identification Number in registration the 2020 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination.
The policy also applied to registering for the JAMB’s Direct Entry registration..
JAMB Registrar, Prof. Isha-q Oloyede, broke the major policy shift at a press conference in Abuja today.
Oloyede cited technical reasons for the decision to drop the requirement on NIN.
This is coming after series of complaints by both candidates and their guardians over the frustration being encountered registering for the exam.
Present at the conference was representatives of the National Identification Management Commission, led by its Director-General, Aziz Aliyu.
According to the JAMB registrar, there had been ongoing difficulties faced by candidates attempting to obtain the NIN registration.
Whereas it had been dropped for this year, Oloyede however said the NIN would still be necessary for the 2021 UTME and Direct Entry registrations.
